Harry Maclean's bestseller, In Broad Daylight, won an Edgar for Best True Crime and was a New York Times bestseller for 12 weeks, selling more than 2 million copies. The book was made into an NBC movie-of-the-week in 1992, with Brian Dennehy playing the lead role. 25 years after the original publication of In Broad Daylight, the book has been issued by St. Martin's Press in a revised and updated edition, 68 pages longer than the original work.
The book deals with the murder of town terror Kenneth McElroy in the summer of 1981. Killed in an act of fear and retribution by local townspeople in front of multiple eyewitnesses, the killing remains unsolved in spite of 3 grand jury investigations and a 9 month investigation by the FBI. Harry Maclean's new edition of In Broad Daylight contains previously undisclosed information about the killing and provides detailed information about the witnesses and killers.
